Help! I am having unbearable premenstrual cramps with no relief from Aleve, etc.?
I am 24 years old, never been pregnant and have been diagnosed with a tilted uterus which my gyno says can cause severe menstrual cramps. I of course have ALWAYS suffered from severe menstrual cramps (and I mean SEVERE, like horrible pain in my back, legs, accompanied by chills, etc. during every cycle) and always have some premenstrual cramping as well that tends to occur about a week to three days before my period starts. The premenstrual cramping I usually have is persistent, but mild enough that the moment I pop a few Advil or Aleve it goes away. (Once my period STARTS, there is almost nothing I can do to relieve the pain, but my premenstrual cramps are not the same).
I have had unprotected sex with my fiance several times in the past month (as usual, save the lectures) but he always pulls out, so I am not worried about pregnancy. I am generally pretty regular with my cycles (every 28 days) and am due to start next Wednesday. About 2 days ago I started to have cramps and they have continued to worsen. Last night the severity of the cramps woke me up at 4AM and when I took Aleve, I waited for three hours thinking it would kick in and it never did. Today they have gotten so much worse that it’s almost unbearable. Not only have I never had premenstrual cramps this bad, but I don’t know if I’ve ever even had regular menstrual cramps this bad. I am debating going to the ER because once again Aleve is not working and I can hardly breathe when the rushes of pain happen on top of the cramps. Why am I having such horrible cramps? Are these premenstrual cramps and if so why are they so extreme? Do you think this could be implantation cramps, because from what I’ve read implantation cramps are not supposed to be unbearable like this (I also don’t think I’m pregnant).
Has this ever happened to anyone? And don’t forget, I am NOT asking about MENSTRUAL cramps as bad menstrual cramps are not unusual for me, I am wondering if anyone has ever had cramping like this BEFORE their menstrual cycle? Thanks!
***UPDATE: I took something to help me sleep last night and today so far the cramps haven’t been as bad. Today marks 5 days before my period should begin, so I took an EPT this A.M. and it came back negative. My breasts are still very sore, though, and cramps are not totally gone. If things don’t get better by Monday, I am going to the doctor. Thanks for the answers!
***UPDATE 2: Pain got worse yesterday, had to go to doctor who sent me to ER. ER doctor seemed inexperienced, gave me pain medication after 4 hours of waiting and basically said after ultrasound, etc. that I “may have had a cyst that ruptured” but he wasn’t sure. Hoping to get in with my gyno tomorrow.

First, I’d like to say that I’m very sorry to hear that you’re going through this. I used to have insane cramping during my period on a pretty regular basis. The kind of cramping that is so bad it makes you throw up and there is no relief. Now I only have that kind of cramping every so often. I just wanted you to know that I’ve felt your pain.
Now back to the issue at hand. No matter how bad my cramping has ever gotten DURING my period, I have never had that kind of cramping BEFORE my period. And if your PRE-menstrual cramps have never been this bad before, then I’d say this warrants a trip to the ER. I know you’re pretty sure you’re not pregnant, but the first thing they will do is check to see if you are. Just go with it and don’t argue the point. Sure is better than pretty sure, especially if something is wrong like an ectopic pregnancy, which can be very dangerous.
So yes, I’d say go to the ER. I don’t even know you and I’m worried about you. I know this isn’t a forum, but use the “Add Details” option to update us somehow.
Best wishes to you.

Sandy asks…
why am i bleeding during intercourse? it seems to only happen when i orgasm?
ok i’ve been looking online all flipin day and i’m beginning to get extremely anoyed, almost as annoyed as i am with the doctors. i’m going to begin by saying first of all, when i was thirteen i had stronger menstrual cramps than most girls, causing me to doubleover in pain. my doctor speculated possible endometriosis, gave me a script for 800mg ibuprofen, put me on birth control pills to inhibit the disease from worsening if that were the issue, told me if that was the disease that was ailing me, there was a good chance of infertility in my future, and sent me on my way. at the time i was not sexually active so i was a little embarrassed to be picking up a contraceptive from my small town rumor mill drug store. ok, when i turned fifteen i lost my viriginity, and my menstrual issues from the past slowly faded. after being told by my doctor that i may not be able to have kids in the future nearly killed me and at sixteen i decided to have a baby. not one of my brightest choices but my choice nonetheless. then at nineteen i got pregnant again, not by choice, but if you’re sexually active things happen. i am 22 years old, i am married and have two beautiful daughters. i am very happy with my life, my children, and my husband. we have a very active sex life, for the past 4 or 5 months when we have sex i bleed very heavily and we both end up covered in blood. it has happened several times over the past few months. we have noticed that it only happens if I have an orgasm. it is extremely frustrating for me, and he is deeply concerned for my health. last week for an entire week i was layed up in the bed in severe pain. it started with pain at the bottom of my ribcage on the right side, my husband took me to the er and they did an entire workup, thinking it was my gallbladder. they did a urinalysis, cbc, ultrasound of my upper abdomen, a chest x-ray, a cat scan the whole nine, then they followed up with a nuclear scan of my gallbladder, well needless to say my gallbladder is flippin beautiful. the only abnormalities they found in all this, was a cyst on my liver that according to the er doctors was unimportant an nothing to worry about, and i had an elevated d-dimer, which is why they did the cat scan to be sure i didn’t have any blood clots. i returned to the er when my left side ribcage, my right side of my pelvis, and my right shoulder started hurting. then my lips and toungue started to feel numb, and i felt dizzy and light headed almost like i was high. this visit to the er consisted of the doctor telling me it could be endometriosis and that i should follow up with an ob. go home take some ibuprofen and get some rest. well after 6 full days of this pain, it finally ceased, the 7th day i felt very dizzy, but the pain was gone now it is day 9 since the first visit to the er, and last night i had sex with my husband and what we have now nicknamed, “the massacre” happened again. all i want is an answer to this anoying, frustrating part of my life. if you think you may have an answer please let me know…if you have any smart ass remarks about my past, such as my decision to have children at a young age or how old i was when i lost my virginity keep them to yourself, GOD is the only one who i allow to judge me and quite frankly i could care less what your opinion of my lifestyle is. thank you!
to vinny: thank you very much for your very extensive answer, the sex isn’t generally rough, no toys are involved, in my opinion my husband is well endowed, he’s 9 1/4″ and pretty large in girth as well, though i haven’t exactly measured that. i hope that isn’t too much information, but the thing about that is, he always takes it pretty easy on me because of his size, even after being together for four years i still can’t really, well, take it all. the blood is always bright red, and always in a large quantity.
we’ve been trying to find an ob that accepts my insurance for several months.my family doctor is suggesting endometriosis, which makes since for a lot of the symptoms, but i haven’t found any information on endometriosis that suggests anything similar to the issue that brought me here. if you have any more insight it is definitely well appreciated.
also, no it does not seem to happen when i masterbate, but i don’t generally penetrate during masturbation, usually just clitoral stimulation, and we do not use condoms, so the latex allergy would not be an answer there,

So I usually offer a different perspective than other people, but read on and see if this helps. You bleed when you have sex, but usually when you have an orgasm. Different thoughts on this provoke different questions. Are you having an orgasm due to rougher intercourse? This roughness could cause bleeding. Have you been screened for cervical cancer? Cancer would also cause this, but it would be a little more consistent than just following orgasms. Do you masturbate and bleed? If you were to have a solo orgasm and still bleed then you may want to look at how strong your muscles are contracting during your orgasm. Are you and your husband practicing sex using a latex condom? Many people are allergic to latex, but usually not to that extent. Is your husband very well endowed? He could be tearing you a bit. Is your blood brightly colored or is it dark? The darker blood usually comes from deeper parts whereas lighter brighter colored blood is indicative of a superficial wound. Do you involve extreme toys? Some can be fun while other can be a little precarious.
Many of these could lead to the problem you are having, but of course it may not be any of these things at all. I hope the best for you and him. As for your lifestyle, that’s up to you. We all have our own choices. Good luck. I truly hope you find a solution.

Provera 15+ days no AF… what can cause this?
I took provera (not depo provera) and clomid last cycle. Worked perfectly aside not getting pregnant. the doc only gave me 1 prescription in case I need to up the does. So after I got my 2nd period from ovulating on the clomid I continued to track my bbt. The doc said it looked like I didn’t ovulate so he put me on provera/clomid again after taking a preg test which was negative.
So I took the provera and ended the last pill about 15 days ago. Still nothing.
Now I have sore breasts that seem to worsen at night. I usually only have nipple soreness but for the first time my whole breasts are sore. I also have some slight cramping however its located a bit lower than where I would experience my menstrual cramps. I took another test to make sure.. it was negative.
All my blood work is normal. I don’t have issues with my hormones. I’m diagnosed as anovulatory not PCOS.
I’m a little worried that taking either provera or clomid the first time did some harm and is causing these side effects??
If anyone has any in put as to why I’m not having AF after provera and not pregnant… along with normal labs. I’d be very thankful

What is your bbt? I saw my ob early this month and i was prescribed clomid to start next cycle. She said i had to come back in a month so she could see what affects it had on me- they aren’t all desirable. It affects different women differently. It could be that the clomid or provera didn’t sit well with your body. Id ring your doc and just explain whats happened and maybe they can give you an idea of whats going on.

Sharon asks…
Is this an ulcer or something else?
For the past two days, I have had this pain in my stomach that hasn’t seemed to fade at all. I think I might have an ulcer because I read that anti-inflammatory medicines such as naproxen can cause this and I take naproxen for my menstrual cramps. Although, I only take naproxen once or twice a month. I also have been under a lot of stress lately so that could have contributed . I’m young and have never had this feeling before nor an ulcer so I don’t know what it would feel like anyways. This pain isn’t necessarily a burning pain but a constant pain that worsens every couple minutes them calms down and worsens again etc. I guess it’s sort of like a extreme pressure on one part of my stomach. I also have acid reflux but I don’t think this would be part of that.

Riset Pertama answers:
Too much acid will cause pain in your stomach, have you been drinking fizzy drinks, Smoking, drinking alcohol? All of these will cause acid in your stomach, You may have Gut rot if you drink a lot of fizzy drinks, if you haven’t and it persists to worsen take a trip to your local GP or ER. Its unlikely it would be an ulcer from taking the tablets though.
